Diving deeper into therapy
An integrative approach
Therapy is most effective when it engages the mind, body, and spirit together. Each client may have a different area of focus or prioritization, but true wellness in any healing journey must be holistic, addressing all of the integrated aspects of a person’s being. With that in mind, I begin each therapeutic relationship with an individually-tailored plan that combines traditional psychotherapy (sometimes referred to as “talk therapy”) with a number of other approaches. This includes ongoing work that is body-centered, attachment-based, trauma-informed, and multiculturally nuanced.
Specialty in EMDR
For those who have experienced trauma or adversity of any kind, a specialized therapy technique called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be utilized to address ongoing symptoms in powerful ways. EMDR uses bi-lateral stimulation of the brain to safely confront and re-train the brain’s trauma response patterns. As a trained EMDR practician, I’ll guide you through processing trauma with a holistic approach of body and mind. This somatic method is optional and can be used over the course of multiple therapy sessions at no additional cost to base rates. Learn more about EMDR through the EMDR Institute (external link).
Preparing for telehealth
Solace is solely a telehealth practice, meaning sessions happen via video chat or phone call using a secure and confidential platform. To make the most of remote therapy, I recommend that clients choose a space to talk that is private, comfortable, free of distractions, and unlikely to be interrupted. You may even want to stock your space with helpful items like tissues, a blanket, fidget objects, coloring supplies, and a cup of tea.
Client eligibility
My licensure allows me to offer telehealth therapy to anyone living in the state of Illinois. Sessions can be self-paid or covered by these insurances:
Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO | United Healthcare | Cigna | Medicare
